Beton Bauen Invest £250k in Automatic Drilling and Anchor-Installing Robot Technology

The Drillcorpio (Model Df) is a self-navigating, automatic drilling and anchor-installing robot designed for ceilings, floors and walls. Beton Bauen hopes to add this machinery's many technological applications to their portfolio, by the Summer of 2026.

With a total strategic investment from Beton Bauen worth almost £250,000, the Drillcorpio robot from Hong-Kong based CSC Robotic Engineering Limited (CSC Robo) is designed to help efficiency, and improve safety and productivity on the jobsite.

The investment is in parallel with a UK Government scheme aimed at offering businesses robotics and automation opportunities. Closer to home, procurement of the automated drilling robot signifies a long-term plan for Beton Bauen that include the implementation of further robotics and automation equipment, enabling future opportunities for innovation and expansion.

The Drillcorpio (Model Df)

Drillcorpio (Model Df) is an automatic drilling and anchor-installing robot, designed for precision, safety, and efficiency in large-scale engineering projects in construction and industrial environments. Its vision system performs automatic target recognition and the robot system aligns to the positions with accurate control. Drilling and anchoring are automatically performed with an algorithm dealing with multiple scenarios.

The Drillcorpio can be operated via a Wi-Fi remote control. Once the drilling size has been set up on an android tablet, the robot works automatically. Users can align the drill to targets through an android tablet, wireless camera, reference lasers and other sensors. Drilling is triggered by remote control with preset depths. The machine also incorporate a dust control mechanism, protecting users from workplace hazards during the drilling operation.

With its advanced capabilities, Df is capable of performing drilling tasks on various surfaces including floors, ceilings and walls. It can drill holes autonomously according to the drilling plan imported from layout drawings. With the auto-navigation technology, Df can move autonomously throughout the work area, dynamically adjusting its path to avoid obstacles and ensure safety.

The technology offers significant efficiency improvements compared with the traditional drilling method. Automatic drilling robots such as the Df require less labour (one-man operation) to carry out the same drilling process, while offering faster speed and higher consistency for a better quality result. They also increase safety by greatly reducing the risk of working at height.

Drillcorpio (Model Df) manufacturer, CSC Robo explains...

“These drilling robots can replace humans in doing dull, dirty and dangerous tasks... they can perform tasks that are more specific, sustainable and scalable. We believe that applying new technologies, processes and innovations can have a significant positive impact on the construction industry in the long term. It will not only save costs and time, but also improve efficiency, safety, quality, and more".
