The Beton Bauen specialist team deliver specialist grouting within the water treatment works

Project Title: Water Treatment Works - Pressurised Grouting

Sector: Water Treatment

Project Duration: March 2023 (1-hour window)

Beton Bauen has successfully completed specialist (pressurised) grouting at one of the largest water treatment works in Wales, responsible for producing water for up to 400,000 residents and businesses.

In conjunction with a main civil engineering contractor (on behalf of the local Water & Sewerage company), Beton Bauen carried out emergency concrete repairs to successfully channel water flow, within the water treatment works.

The project involved installation of a separating channel/wall, and specialist (pressurised) grouting below a penstock base. A penstock is a sluice or gate or intake structure that controls water flow, or an enclosed pipe that delivers water to hydro turbines and sewerage systems.

Under severe restrictions, Beton Bauen had just one hour to successfully deliver a solution. Using trusted specialist materials, successful delivery by a highly skilled team meant that potential leaking and any cross-contamination to the water tanks was avoided and ensured successful water flow in the future.
